Teams or solo filmmakers are invited to create an original film from scratch in 48 hours
(4:30pm Friday, 10th May to 4:30pm Sunday, 12th May 2024).
The films will need to include three elements that will be randomly allocated on the launch day. The elements are: an assigned line of dialogue, a character, and a prop.
You decide who is on your team, or you can decide to go it alone. We recommend that your core team is no larger than 6, any larger and things may get complicated.
You can have as many actors as you want and they can be any age, 0-99 years!
Adults will need to be involved! You will need a Team Leader for the weekend.
The Team Leader can be a parent or responsible adult over the age of 21.
They will be our point of contact over the weekend.
The 48 Hour Film Challenge is a well know concept internationally, but it is aimed mainly at adults. The Schools 48 Hour Film Challenge is exclusively for young people between the ages of 7 and 18 years of age.
The challenge allows students to engage in all the concepts and stages of making an original film. Each team will be given a combination of three elements that must appear in the film. The elements are a prop, character and line of dialogue, the combination is individual to each team.
Skills developed in this challenge will include; scriptwriting, team building, communication, acting (of course!), organisation and technical post production editing. It is fun and inclusive, as all the challengers need is some imagination and determination to get their (4 minute max) film uploaded in the 48 hours.
